Drug peddler arrested in Kulgam; Contraband substance recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police in Kulgam have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

A Police team of Police Post Jawahar Tunnel at a checkpoint established at Puranigam Crossing intercepted a suspicious person carrying a bag, who after noticing police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. During search, 4.3 Kg of Grinded Cannabis concealed in the said bag was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Fayaz Ahmad Itoo son of Abdul Gani Itoo resident of Chowgam.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 07/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been initiated.

We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law.
