MLA Ajaz Jan reviews development projects, public welfare initiatives in Poonch Haveli

Poonch : Ajaz Ahmed Jan, Member Legislative Assembly for the Poonch Haveli chaired a comprehensive review meeting on Saturday in the Conference Hall of Dak Banglow.
The meeting focused on assessing ongoing developmental projects and public welfare initiatives spearheaded by the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, as well as the performance of the Agriculture Department in addressing critical issues within the constituency.
During the meeting, the MLA conducted an in-depth review of the developmental challenges related to the Rural Development Department and agricultural infrastructure, highlighting issues of public importance.
The Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) presented a detailed report on block-wise activities, including physical and financial progress under several key initiatives such as MGNREGA, PMAY-Grameen, District Capex, BDC Grant, CD&PYT, and the Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen (SBM-G).
Notably, it was reported that a total of 75021 job cards have been issued under MGNREGA, achieving 75% of the target for the financial year 2024-25. Progress under PMAY-G was also commendable, with completion rates of 90% in Block Loran, 89% in Mandi, 89% in NSSB, 91% in Poonch, and 84% in Sathra Block.
In his address, the MLA urged the Block Development Officers (BDOs) to work diligently towards the welfare of the community and tasked the ACD with overseeing the initiatives. He emphasized the need for qualitative enhancements in the pace of various developmental and infrastructural projects and called for improved coordination among departments to ensure timely completion of these works.
The Chief Agriculture Officer provided insights into new initiatives aimed at enhancing farmers’ income, innovative agricultural extension approaches, and the promotion of integrated farming and livelihood systems for sustainability.
The MLA raised several key issues during the meeting, including: Panchayat-wise work done in the Agriculture sector, Road access to Panchayat Ghar Loran, Construction of bunkers along the Line of Control, Pending MGNREGA wages and other infrastructural works
He stressed the importance of prioritizing public welfare and ensuring that benefits from various beneficiary-oriented schemes reach eligible individuals.
Ajaz Ahmed Jan reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive growth and sustainable development for the residents of Haveli Poonch, underlining the necessity for transparency and accountability in all schemes and projects.
The meeting was attended by the ACD Poonch, ACP, XEN REW, CHO, CAO, all BDOs of the Haveli Constituency, and other concerned officers and officials.
