Property attached, Rs 6 lac seized under NDPS Act in Shopian: Police

Shopian : Police on Thursday said that it has attached a double-storey residential house worth Rs.14,76,579 in Shopian and also seized cash amount of Rs. 6 lakh belonging to a notorious drug peddler namely Farooq Ahmad KokaS/o Ghulam Mohammad Koka R/o Melhura Zainapora, adding therein that the action was taken under section 68-E read with 68-F(1) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the said property attachment and the seizure of cash is linked to FIR No. 36/2024 of Police Station Zainapora and was executed in the presence of duly constituted Police team and the Executive Magistrate, ensuring full compliance with legal protocols.
Stating that the said property was identified as illegally acquired property during the course of investigation/inquiry conducted by Shopian Police, Police in its statement further said that the property and the seized cash were prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in narcotic drug and psychotropic substances by the owner. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police reiterated its commitment to combat the drug menace
