DIG North Kashmir Promotes Youth Engagement Through Cricket

Sopore: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of North Kashmir, Masood Ul Zaman, on Tuesday said the police aim to involve youth in cricket and other sports, emphasizing that cricket fever grips the Valley. He also said they encourage youth to participate in sports.

Addressing the media on the sidelines of the Police Martyrs Memorial Cricket Tournament organized by Sopore police, DIG North Kashmir as per the news agency JKNS stressed the importance of youth engagement through sports. “Our basic aim is youth engagement. We want to involve youth in cricket and other sports,” he said.

He highlighted the growing enthusiasm for cricket in the Valley and expressed hopes of channeling this passion to keep the youth away from harmful habits like drug abuse. “As cricket fever grips the Valley, we encourage our youth to take part in sports and stay away from bad habits like drugs and others,” he added.

Pertinently, the tournament, dedicated to honoring police martyrs, also aims to provide a platform for youth participation and community bonding.

“This event is organized to honor our martyrs, and we want maximum youth engagement,” DIG Zaman said.

Notably, the cricket tournament has received significant participation, reflecting the positive impact of such initiatives on the younger generation in the region. —(JKNS
