The details stated that the extreme cold has likely frozen water taps, pipelines, and parts of the iconic Dal Lake, leaving residents to cope with the harsh realities of winter.

Notably, frozen taps and frost-covered rooftops have become a common sight, while icy conditions on roads have added to the challenges of daily life.

Despite these difficulties, Chillai Kalan holds a special place in the valley’s cultural and scenic tapestry, marking a season of breathtaking frozen landscapes.

Meanwhile, the weather forecast for Jammu and Kashmir from the 21st to the 31st of December, as accessed by JKNS, stated, on 21st-22nd December, cloudy skies with very light snow over higher reaches of North Kashmir, particularly on the night of the 21st and the morning of the 22nd.

From 23rd-26th December, predominantly dry weather. On 27th-28th December, generally cloudy with light rain or snow in higher areas, starting late on the 27th and continuing until the morning of the 28th.

Similarly, on 29th-30th December, dry weather, while on 31st December, cloudy with light snow over a few higher reaches.

Notably, while Chillai Kalan brings challenges of frozen pipelines, icy roads, and sub-zero temperatures, it also transforms Kashmir into a winter wonderland, offering a unique experience of resilience and natural beauty. —(JKNS)
