Kupwara: Amidst relentless snowfall across the Kupwara district, the Indian Army once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to public service and safety. On Wednesday, a loaded civil truck toppled along the Karnah-Kupwara Highway, the sole communication lifeline connecting the remote town of Tangdhar. The incident posed a serious threat to traffic on the vital route, especially for heavy vehicles.

The truck accident, which occurred due to slippery road conditions caused by the heavy snow spell, left the crew stranded in perilous conditions. Responding promptly, a recovery team from the Indian Army stationed at Nasta Chhun Pass undertook the challenging task of rescuing the crew. Despite the adverse weather, the team ensured the safety of all individuals involved.

The toppled truck, laden with cargo, obstructed the highway, making it impassable for other heavy vehicles. Recognizing the critical nature of the Karnah-Kupwara Highway for local communities, the Army’s recovery team braved inclement weather and treacherous road conditions to remove the truck and its cargo.

Utilizing specialized recovery equipment, the team maneuvered the truck safely and cleared the road.

The operation was completed swiftly, minimizing disruption to the traffic flow and restoring connectivity for the region.

The Karnah-Kupwara Highway serves as a lifeline for the people of Tangdhar and surrounding areas, facilitating the movement of essential supplies and emergency services. The Army’s efforts ensured uninterrupted access, highlighting their role in maintaining the region’s connectivity during challenging winter conditions.

The incident is yet another example of the Indian Army’s dedication to serving the nation beyond the battlefield. Their quick action, professionalism, and commitment to the welfare of civilians exemplify their motto of selfless service.
Local residents expressed their gratitude for the Army’s timely intervention, acknowledging their vital role in ensuring safety and connectivity in this remote and weather-prone region.
