Four Gamblers Arrested in Srinagar, Rs 7,190 Seized

Srinagar: Srinagar Police has arrested four individuals for illegal gambling and seized Rs 7,190 in stake money from their possession.

A police spokesperson in a statement accessed by the news agency JKNS said that, acting on credible information about gambling activities, a team from PS Bemina conducted a raid at a specific location and arrested the accused.

It reads that they have been identified as Mohd Sultan Hanji (Shah Colony Fruit Mandi), Altaf Ahmed Guroo, Fayaz Ahmad Dandroo, and Irshad Ahmad Khanday, all residents of Mansoor Colony, Bemina.

“The police also recovered three mobile phones and playing cards along with the seized money. A case under the relevant law sections has been registered at PS Bemina, and an investigation is currently underway,” the statement reads.

The statement further reads that the police have warned that individuals engaging in such criminal activities will be dealt with strictly under the law. They have also urged the community to share any information related to crimes with local police units.—(JKNS)
