Second IED found & destroyed in North Kashmir in 48 hours

Srinagar: A major terror incident was averted in north Kashmir’s Handwara sub-district after security forces detected and destroyed an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on Wednesday, Army said.

This is second IED that was detected and destroyed in North Kashmir since Monday morning.

Officials said a suspicious object was found at Langate Handwara on Wednesday morning near an Army camp. The object which turned out to be an IED was later destroyed by the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS).

Soon after the suspicious object was found security forces promptly cordoned off the area and halted traffic on the highway as a safety precaution. The traffic was restored after the IED was destroyed.

Army’s Srinagar based Chinar Corps said a major terror incident was averted by recovering and destroying an IED at Langate, Kupwara.

“IED Recovered at Langate, Kupwara on Baramulla-Handwara road. ChinarWarriors and @JmuKmrPolice averted a major terror incident today by recovering and destroying an IED at Langate, Kupwara, ” Army said adding that the Army remains resolute in its commitment to keep Kashmir terror-free.

On December 9, a major terror incident was foiled after security forces detected and destroyed an IED in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. The IED was recovered at Palpora Palhallan along the Srinagar Baramulla highway which was later destroyed in a controlled way
