Jammu: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh on Monday said that the Jammu-Pathankot DMU service has been restored with immediate effect by the Railway Ministry.
Taking to micro-blogging site, Dr Singh posted on X, “IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING DMU TRAIN SERVICE”
“In response to a representation made yesterday by #Udhampur West MLA Pawan Gupta on behalf of the local public, which was followed by another similar representation by #Udhampur East MLA R S Pathania and a phone call from MLA #Chenani B S Mankotia, the matter was taken up by me with the Railway Board and Railway Ministry,” Dr Singh posted.
He further wrote, “I am thankful for the prompt response within 24 hours in restoring the DMU train service with immediate effect. This is yet another reiteration of PM @narendramodi’s commitment and high prioritisation for #JammuandKashmir.”
Meanwhile, MLA Udhampur West Pawan Gupta, when contacted, said, “a delegation with a representation of around 400 to 500 people met with me requesting restoration of DMU service, following which the matter was taken up with Dr Jitendera Singh on priority.”
Notably, Dr Singh is also a member of the Parliament for the Kathua-Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency.
“Dr Singh took up the concern with the Railway Ministry, and the same was addressed on priority with immediate effect,” said the legislator, adding that people of the area have expressed gratitude to the Union Minister.
