Karnah: In a profound loss for the region, renowned religious scholar and former preacher of Jamia Kandi Karnah, Maulvi Habib-ur-Rehman, passed away at his ancestral home in Kandi Karnah. (Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raji’un).
Maulvi Habib-ur-Rehman was a towering figure in the religious community of Karnah, dedicating his life to imparting Islamic knowledge to countless children and preaching the values of Islam. Before the partition of the subcontinent, he traveled to Hazara and other regions to seek religious education, later returning to Karnah to become a beacon of Islamic teachings.
He served as the preacher of the Central Jamia Mosque Tangdhar for over two decades and led Friday prayers at Jamia Chanyipura Payeen and Jamia Masjid Bagh Bila. Known for his powerful and clear voice, Maulvi Sahib’s sermons were succinct yet profound, leaving a lasting impact on the listeners. A staunch advocate of monotheism and Sunnah, his style of preaching was deeply rooted in the religious traditions of Hazara and its surrounding areas.
His funeral prayer was held in his native village, Kandi Karnah, and witnessed a massive gathering of thousands, reflecting the deep respect and love he commanded in the region. His demise marks the end of an era for Karnah, leaving a void in the community that will be hard to fill.
The people of Karnah remember Maulvi Habib-ur-Rehman not only for his religious contributions but also for his role as a unifying figure who brought people closer to Islamic teachings.
