New Delhi: The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day after the Opposition created ruckus demanding discussion over the Gautam Adani issue and Sambhal violence.

As soon as the House reassembled at 12, members of the Congress, Trinamool Congress, and Samajwadi Party stood up, demanding discussions on the Adani and Sambhal issue.

Agitated Samajwadi Party members entered the well of the House, raising slogans “Sambhal ke Hathyaroon ko Phansi do” (Hang the murderers of Sambhal).

Meanwhile, Presiding Officer Krishna Prasad Tenneti urged the members to go back to their seats and cooperate in the functioning of the House. But the sloganeering members continued creating a ruckus.

Amid the sloganeering by the Opposition, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju while condemning the act, said, “During the all-party meeting ahead of the winter session, all leaders had decided that every day of the session will be fully utilised. They had raised some issues, and we had accepted it. I condemn the disruption of the House by the Congress and other parties by breaking the rule. The government has also accepted the Opposition’s demand to extend the time for the Joint Parliamentary Committee formed on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024 to submit its report. Despite this, Congress members and Opposition parties are disrupting the functioning of the House by creating a ruckus, which is not appropriate.”

The Opposition continued with the ruckus, forcing the chair to adjourn the House till 11 am on Friday.

Earlier, as soon as the House met for the day, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took oath as Wayanad MP. Moreover, Ravindra Chavan from the Congress, who won the Lok Sabha by-election from Nanded in Maharashtra, also took an oath.
