LS adjourned till Wednesday over Adani, Manipur issues

New Delhi: The Lok Sabha on Monday was adjourned till Wednesday after uproar by Opposition members demanding discussion on Adani and Manipur issues.

As soon as the House reconvened at 12 noon, members from the Opposition started raising slogan and demanding discussions on Adani and Manipur issues.

There will be a special session of both the houses on Tuesday on the occasion of Constitution Day.

After the House reconvened, amid ruckus Samajwadi Party’s Dharmendra Yadav was heard saying that an FIR has been lodged against his party’s MP in connection with the violence in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh.

The Opposition members raising slogans started moving towards the well of the House.

Presiding Officer Sandhya Ray asked the Opposition members not to create ruckus and allow the proceedings of the House.

“You do not want the House to run?” the Chair asked. She made repeated attempts to maintain order in the House, but Opposition members did not listen, the Chair then adjourned the House till Wednesday, November 27.

Earlier, after paying tributes the departed members of the Lok Sabha, the proceedings of the House were adjourned till noon.

As soon as the House assembled, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla informed the House about the demise of two sitting members, Vasantrao Chavan from Nanded, Maharashtra and SK Nurul Islam from West Bengal. Apart from this, he expressed condolence on the demise of former members MM Lawrence, M Parvathi and Harishchandra Devram Chavan.

After that all members observed silence and paid tributes to the deceased members. After the tribute, when the Opposition members tried to raise the Adani bribery case, the House proceedings were adjourned till noon.
