UDHAMPUR: Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Kumar Choudhary today conducted an extensive tour of remote areas of Panchari and Moungri in Udhampur District to assess the progress of developmental works and mega projects under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana  (PMGSY) and Public Works Department.

Deputy Chief Minister was accompanied by Chief Engineer PMGSY Rajan Mengi, Chief Engineer PWD Batote Ashok Khokhar, Chief Engineer Pir Panchal Anil Pandoi, Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh, Executive Engineer PMGSY Udhampur Yash Paul, Xen PWD Udhampur Sarver Mehmood, Xen PMGSY Reasi Neeraj Vaid and other district officers.

Upon reaching Udhampur the Deputy Chief Minister received a warm welcome by locals at supply morh, Mansar Kaith Gali, Moungri, Ladda and Udhampur Dak Bunglow.

During the tour, Surinder Choudhary inspected Road Projects from Kaith Gali to Moungri, Moungri to Ladda and Kaith Gali  to Panchari (PMGSY) road. Expressing dissatisfaction over the dilapidated condition of these roads, he directed the concerned departments to blacklist contractors failing to meet timelines or delivering substandard work.

Deputy Chief Minister emphasized the need to expedite ongoing projects by deploying additional manpower and machinery and adopting double shifts where necessary. He stressed the importance of maintaining quality standards and completing all projects within stipulated timeframes to maximize their on-ground impact.“Roads and bridges are the backbone of any region’s development. Proper connectivity not only enhances the economy but also improves the overall quality of life,” he added.

Surinder Choudhary interacted with locals, ex-PRI members and other delegations at Kaith Gali, Moungri and Dak Bungalow Udhampur. During these interactions, the public raised several demands and grievances, including staff shortages in PHC Moungri, Ensuring quality material in road construction, Inclusion of Moungri in the tourism map, Establishment of industries and factories, Construction and maintenance of roadside drains, Resolution of parking issues in Udhampur town, Expediting Salmay Bridge construction, Regularization of daily wagers, Formulating an inclusive industrial policy

Dy CM assured the public that their genuine demands would be addressed on priority. On-spot directions were issued to concerned officers  for the immediate redressal of grievances. He emphasized the importance of regular monitoring and inspections to ensure timely project completion and warned that delays due to negligence would not be tolerated.

He added that the primary objective of this tour is to assess the progress of developmental works on the ground and listen to public grievances. He reiterated that the government is committed to reaching out to the people, addressing their issues and ensuring holistic development said the Deputy Chief Minister.

At Dak Bunglow Deputy Chief Minister received warm reception by local residents of Udhampur Town besides District Administration and Police.
