DODA, NOVEMBER 7: Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh on Thursday chaired a comprehensive review meeting with the Mining & Minerals Department, with SDMs and Tehsildars joining virtually. The session focused on refining mineral extraction processes, optimizing revenue, and strengthening enforcement against illegal mining. Singh emphasized the urgent need for sustainable practices that balance local development with environmental conservation, setting a clear direction for effective resource management.

The discussions centered on accelerating the permit issuance process to boost lawful mineral extraction, which is essential to meeting regional infrastructure demands. Singh highlighted that timely permits not only streamline operations but also curb illegal activities by providing legitimate options for mineral supply. Additionally, he stressed the importance of adhering to environmental guidelines, such as maintaining natural landscapes and minimizing ecological disruptions.

To enhance on-ground vigilance, the Deputy Commissioner directed the team to intensify coordination with law enforcement agencies, enabling stricter monitoring of mining activities. Further, he called for community involvement in monitoring operations, encouraging residents to report any unregulated activities affecting their areas. This approach aims to address public grievances, build trust, and foster transparency in mining operations across the district.

The meeting saw the active participation of key officials, including ADC Sudershan Kumar, ASP headquarters Shakeel Ul Rehman, ACR Sunil Bhutyal, SDM Thathri, and the district mineral officer.
