SAMBA, OCTOBER 19: To assess preparations for Diwali Mela and Diwali festival, Deputy Commissioner Samba, Rajesh Sharma today convened two critical meetings at the District Administrative Complex, Nandani Hills, to ensure seamless organization and security for the event. These meetings focused on coordinating the efforts of stakeholder departments and finalizing arrangements for the celebrations.

The first meeting focused on public safety and security during the Diwali celebrations. Senior officials in attendance included Senior Superintendent of Police Vinay Kumar; Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Executive Engineers from PWD, Jal Shakti, JPDCL and officers from Fire and Emergency Services and the Traffic Police.

The Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of robust security protocols, effective traffic control, and proper sanitation to ensure a safe environment throughout the celebrations. A dedicated area for the sale of firecrackers was established, and officers were instructed to ensure its safe operation. Adequate police deployment, continuous power and water supply, efficient waste management, and medical teams on standby were highlighted as key priorities, along with stringent fire safety measures.

The second meeting, attended by officials including ADC Jagdish Singh, ACR Kusum Chib, representatives from Agriculture, Handicrafts, NABARD, DIC, and the Traffic Department, focused on organizing the Diwali Mela, scheduled on 30th October 2024.

Detailed discussions were held on stall allocation, crowd management, and community outreach to encourage wide participation in the event. The Mela is expected to be a vibrant celebration, and all departments are working closely to ensure its success.
