Ganderbal, October 10: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested a notorious drug peddler in Ganderbal and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

 

Police Station Safapora received information through reliable source that one person namely Umar Reyaz Bhat son of Reyaz Ahmad Bhat resident of Treesa, Safapora has hoarded some contraband Cannabis like substance inside his residential house with an intention to sell it to the local youth of the area. Acting swiftly, special police team led by SHO Safapora conducted a search of the said house along with Executive Magistrate 1st Class Lar. During search, 11.2 Kgs (Approximately) of crushed Cannabis-like substance (Bung Patti with top & Seeds) were recovered. The accused was arrested on the spot and have been shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

 

Subsequently, a case vide FIR No. 26/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Safapora & further investigation has been taken up.

 

J&K Police urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
