KATHUA, SEPTEMBER 25: In a concerted effort to boost voter awareness and promote electoral participation, a series of SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) activities were successfully organized at various schools across Assembly Constituency 68-Hiranagar.
These events were designed to educate students and the wider community about the importance of voting and encouraging informed, ethical participation in the democratic process.
The activities were held at multiple educational institutions, including Government High Schools and Senior Secondary Schools, where students actively participated in a range of awareness programs. These included debates, skits, poster-making competitions, and interactive sessions on the significance of voting, with a special focus on first-time voters.
The program also emphasized the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs), helping students understand the electoral process and the steps involved in casting a vote. Resource persons from the Election Department, along with local Booth Level Officers (BLOs), were present to guide the participants and provide detailed information on voter registration, the importance of ethical voting, and the impact of informed electoral participation.
SVEEP is a crucial initiative to ensure that every eligible voter, especially the youth, is empowered with the knowledge and responsibility to participate in the electoral process,” said AC Nodal Officer Priya Lakshmi (CDPO Hiranagar). “We are committed to creating an informed and active electorate that contributes to a healthy democracy.”
These SVEEP activities were well-received, with students showing a keen interest in understanding their civic duties and encouraging their peers and families to register and vote in the upcoming elections.
