REASI, SEPTEMBER 29: In preparation for the upcoming Assembly Elections in Jammu and Kashmir, General Observer for the AC 57-Reasi and AC58-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, Avi Prasad and Observer for AC-56 Gulabgarh (ST) Saroj Kumar Sethi attended a training session of polling staff here today in the auditorium of the Deputy Commissioner’s office complex.
The Observers engaged with the polling staff, discussing the do’s and don’ts for the upcoming poll day, ensuring clarity on procedures, rules, and the critical responsibilities each polling official must uphold to conduct free, fair, and transparent elections. They emphasised the importance of meticulous adherence to the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines to ensure smooth voting operations and a seamless experience for the voters.
Following the training session, Avi Prasad and Saroj Sethi conducted an on-site inspection of the Voter Facilitation Centre, which has been specially set up for employees working in essential services. The purpose of the inspection was to ensure that the voting process for these employees is being conducted efficiently and in full compliance with the ECI norms to facilitate hassle-free voting for essential service employees who are unable to cast their vote at the regular polling stations due to their critical duties.
General Observers also inspected the Strong room set up for the receipt and safekeeping of postal ballots, which are being utilized by those eligible voters who cannot vote. Strong room is under supervision of District Treasury Officer Mr. Qamar Rehman. Speaking on the occasion, Prasad remarked, “It is vital that every member of the polling team fully understands their role and responsibilities. The integrity of the democratic process depends on the flawless execution of each step, from voting to the final counting of ballots.”
The inspection and interaction reflect the commitment of the election machinery in Reasi to conduct elections in a transparent, efficient, and voter-friendly manner, as per the highest standards laid down by the Election Commission of India.
