PULWAMA, SEPTEMBER 10: In a continued effort to promote electoral literacy and encourage informed voter participation, two SVEEP awareness programmes were conducted today at Higher Secondary School (HSS) Lethpora and Higher Secondary School (HSS) Ladhoo in Pampore.
At HSS Lethpora, the programme commenced with insightful lectures delivered by experts, emphasising the importance and significance of the SVEEP initiative. The discourse was aimed at educating citizens about the electoral process and the critical role of informed participation in upholding democratic values.
A captivating performance of the traditional Rouf by the students lent a cultural richness to the occasion. The event culminated with a plantation drive, symbolising growth and the collective responsibility towards both the environment and the democratic process.
At HSS Ladhoo Pampore, students performed a traditional and indigenous art form Ladishah, to raise awareness about the importance of voting.
The performance was followed by expert sessions that further highlighted the role of voters in shaping a vibrant and representative democracy.
The event also showcased a folk dance and the rendition of traditional folk songs, offering a celebration of the region’s cultural heritage while reinforcing the electoral message.
Additionally, the Umeed Cluster Level Federation (CLF) also organized a SVEEP programme at their cluster head in Ratnipora. The focus of this event was to increase voter turnout and ensure women’s participation in the upcoming elections.
During the programme, members of the Umeed CLF took a pledge to uphold democratic traditions and the integrity of free, fair and peaceful elections. They committed to voting with conviction, reinforcing their dedication to the democratic process.
These awareness initiatives, designed to engage local communities, educators and students, reflect the unwavering commitment of the Election Commission of India and the District Administration to fostering a well-informed and participatory electorate.
The events were a vital part of ongoing efforts to ensure that every eligible citizen is adequately educated and encouraged to exercise their democratic rights.
