SHOPIAN, SEPTEMBER 10: In an endeavour to reach out to the maximum number of electorate of the district, a meeting was convened today at Government Degree College, Shopian by the District Election Officer, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar.
Heads of religious institutions and other civil society members attended the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, DEO highlighted the significant influence and mass appeal the religious heads and civil society members have on the society and were requested to engage people on the electoral process.
All stakeholders including this gathering have a vital responsibility, said DEO while asking them to give a helping hand to the district administration in further motivating the people to participate in the upcoming Assembly Elections, due on 18th September, 2024.
DEO on the occasion apprised that the Election Commission of India aims to spread voter awareness and facilitate voter education to increase the voter turnout.
ADDC, Dr. Nasir Ahmed Lone; ADC, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz; Principal GDC, Prof. Shafiq Ahmed; RO, Zainapora, Nisar Ahmad and RO, Shopian, Shakoor Ahmad were also present on the occasion.
