NOTED POET WRITER SHAHNAZ RASHEED & FICTIONIST NASIR ZAMIR FACILITATED ON TEACHERS DAY AT SOPORE
Shahnaz & Nasir zamir both are the alumni of this great institution which was headed by many legends & Stalwarts in last seven decades which includes front runner of urdu Persian poet Saifi Sopori Masoodi ,Sardar Hanif Beg among many others.
Teachers’ Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and spirit in the Allama Iqbal Auditorium of BHSS Sopore. The event was graced by Mr. Shabir Ahmad Raina, ADC Sopore, as the chief guest. Later, SP Sopore, Ms. Divya Di, and Dy. SP DAR Sopore, Dr. Hilal Ahmad, joined the esteemed gathering, which included former teachers and prominent academicians.
The event commenced with a warm welcome from Principal Mushtaq Sopori, setting the tone for a day of tributes and appreciation for educators. Senior Lecturer in English, Ms. Musharraf Jabeen, delivered an insightful welcome note, followed by students honouring their teachers through a variety of academic and recreational performances.
SP Sopore, Ms. Divya Di, in her address, emphasized the pivotal role of teachers in shaping lives, likening them to individuals who kindle countless lamps of knowledge and wisdom. Dr. Hilal Ahmad, Dy. SP DAR, further reflected on the importance of Teachers’ Day in today’s world, highlighting the ongoing influence of educators in modern society.
Renowned academician and administrator, Prof. Muhammad Abdullah Charoo, along with Principal Mushtaq Sopori, also shared their thoughts on the significance of Teachers’ Day, underscoring the invaluable contributions of teachers throughout history.
A key highlight of the function was the felicitation of two illustrious former students of the institution: eminent Kashmiri poet Shahnaz Rasheed and celebrated fiction writer Nasir Zameer, both recognized for their outstanding contributions to literature.
The event was further honored by the presence of distinguished teachers and academicians, including Prof. Abdul Rashid Dar, Mr. Rafi Ahmad Masoodi, Mr. Ghulam Rasool Dar, Mr. Manzoor Ahmad Wani, poet Abdur Rasheed Afaaque, and SMDC members Mr. Ghulam Qadir Kachroo and Mr. Ashiq Hussain Pukhta.
The proceedings concluded with Vice Principal Mr. Ashfaq Maqbool delivering a heartfelt vote of thanks, while Senior Lecturer Ms. Aamina Akhtar skillfully moderated the program, ensuring a smooth and engaging event.
