251 EVMs to be commissioned along with 125 reserve EMVs
SHOPIAN, SEPTEMBER 05: The commissioning of EVM/ VVPATs commenced today at Shopian in EVM Strong Rooms, located at Mini Secretariat for Assembly Constituencies of 36- Zainapora and 37- Shopian.
The exercise is being conducted in the presence of Returning Officers and recognised agents of political parties and contesting candidates of the district.
The process is also being supervised by concerned General Observers and monitored at EVM rooms by a joint team of officials and recognised agents of political parties and contesting candidates.
A total of 129 EVMs with reserve of 64 EVMs shall be commissioned for the Zainapora Assembly Constituency while 122 EVMs with reserve of 61 EVMs shall be commissioned for Shopian Assembly Constituency during the process.
After the culmination of the process, the commissioned EVMs shall be stored in Strong rooms under strict security vigilance and monitoring for which elaborate and foolproof arrangements are in place. The strong rooms shall be sealed as per protocol and stored EVMs handed over to Polling parties at the time of despatch on pre- poll day.
