Over 1,500 students AWWs, ASHAs, took pledge to promote ethical Voting

KISHTWAR, SEPTEMBER 04: To encourage maximum voter participation in General Election to Legislative Assembly 2024, District Election Officer (DEO) Kishtwar Rajesh Kumar Shavan today launched a massive Systematic Voters’ Education & Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Programme in the district.

The programme held at Chowgan Ground included multifarious activities aimed at generating Electoral awareness among field functionaries and Students.

The event attracted over 1,500 participants, including Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), ASHAs, students from Government Higher Secondary School Boys, GHSS Girls, Polytechnic College and NCC Scouts from Government Degree College (GDC).

The DEO along with Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abdul Qayoom , besides District Nodal Officer SVEEP (DIO), Dr Kuldeep Kumar; Nodal Officer Training, Riyaz Ahmed Butt; Nodal Officer SVEEP 49-Kishtwar Assembly Constituency Masood Qazi and Principals GHSS Boys and GHSS Girls, among other officials from the Election and SVEEP Cell were present at the event.

The programme began with a plantation drive, as the DEO along with SSP planted a Chinar tree to signify growth and the importance of environmental stewardship. A Voter Pledge was administered to all participants, emphasizing the significance of ethical voting and the right to vote.

In his address, the DEO highlighted the pivotal role of students, AWWs, and ASHAs as ambassadors in spreading electoral awareness. He encouraged them to engage with their peer groups and the general public, motivating them to exercise their right to vote and to do so ethically in the ongoing Assembly Election. He further urged the participants to ensure maximum voter turnout on September 18, 2024, which is the designated polling day for the district.

The event concluded with a renewed commitment from all attendees to actively participate in the democratic process, ensuring that every vote is cast with integrity and responsibility, contributing to the strength of the nation’s democratic fabric.

A cleanliness Drive was also conducted on the occasion. Later the participants took selfies on selfie points installed in the venue to empower the spirit of voting rights and ethical voting.
