A Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program was organized at Girls Higher Secondary School, Handwara  to educate and empower young minds about the importance of voting and democratic participation.
The program, conducted by GHSS Handwara in coordination with Zeo Handwara ( Nodal Officer SVEEP) aimed to sensitize  Voters, and  students about their rights and responsibilities as future voters. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who engaged in interactive sessions, quizzes, and discussions on electoral processes and citizen duties.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the RO remarked that SVEEP is a flagship initiative designed to enhance voter education, raise awareness and promote electoral literacy across the country. He highlighted the critical importance of voting in strengthening democracy and ensuring inclusive elections.
The RO acknowledged the vital role played by ASHA and Anganwadi workers in encouraging voter turnout and their continued efforts in supporting electoral participation. He underlined that every voter holds immense power in the electoral process.
The RO said, “When a voter uses his vote, he is not just expressing his choice but exercising his franchise, which is a powerful tool in shaping the future of our democracy.”
RO ensured wheel chair facility for differently-abled voters.Voters aged 85 and above may be eligible for home voting.
The RO encouraged the electorate to recognize the significance of their vote and to participate actively in the upcoming elections.
The aim of the event was Empowering young minds for healthy democracy.
  We are committed to creating informed and responsible citizens. This program is a step towards achieving that goal.
A pledge was also administered by RO to participants during the event, encouraging all attendees to promote voter turnout and ensure that every eligible voter in the district exercises their franchise.
Returning Officer (RO)Handwara,Aziz Ahmad Rather, District Nodal Officer Sveep CEO Kupwara  Ab Majeed Dar, AERO Handwara, Zeeshan Khan , Dy CEO Kupwara, Zonal Nodal Officer sweep ZEO Handwara, Principal BHSS Handwara addressed the gathering, emphasizing the significance of informed voting and active citizenship.
