Poonch, August 28 : Weeklong workshop on Sericulture and Cocoon Artistry Commence at SKC-GDC Poonch here today.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Rubia Bukhari, the visionary founder of Dr. Rubia Bukhari’s Cocoon Artistry Initiative.
The event was graced by the presence of esteemed officials from the Indian Army, including those from the participating students, and other distinguished guests.
This workshop, organized by the Indian Army’ in collaboration with Dr. Rubia Bukhari’s Cocoon Artistry under OP Sadhbhavna, will run upto August 31st, 2024. It aims to revitalize thee traditional craft of sericulture and cocoon artistry, offering participants valuable insights and hands-on experience in these fields.
In her inaugural address, Dr. Rubia Bukhari emphasized the workshop’s significance, stating, “Today’s workshop is not merely a beginning; it is a beacon of hope for our youth and women, offering them a glimpse into new opportunities and avenues of employment. This collaboration between the Indian Army and my Cocoon Artistry Initiative is a testimony to what we can achieve when we come together with a shared vision. I am confident that we are opening new doors for the people of Rajouri and Poonch.”
Dr. Bukhari also highlighted the broader impact of the initiative, describing it as “more than an initiative—it is a revolution that holds the potential to bring meaningful change to the lives of our people.”She extended her gratitude to the media for their role in amplifying the initiative’s message beyond Poonch, saying, “The power of media has amplified our voices, turning our aspirations into a movement that is now echoing across the globe.”
Officials from the Indian Army, in their welcome address, praised Dr. Bukhari for her pivotal role in reviving the lost glory of sericulture in Jammu and Kashmir. They noted her tireless efforts to foster knowledge and skill development in this crucial sector.
The event was attended by the Principal of SKC-GDC Poonch, officials from the Indian Army and students from various educational institutions. The workshop promises to be a transformative experience for all participants, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to contribute to the resurgence of sericulture and cocoon artistry in the region.
As the workshop unfolds over the next week, students are encouraged to become ambassadors of the initiative, with Dr. Bukhari urging them to “carry forward the torch of sericulture and light the way for others.”
