KUPWARA, AUGUST 28: Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan, today chaired the District level Monitoring Committee (DMC) meeting at the Mini-Meeting Hall in Kupwara to review the progress of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in the district.
During the meeting, DDM-NABARD, Kupwara, Dr. Asif Bhat, provided an update on the operational status of FPOs in the district. He informed the chair that 21 FPOs are currently active under the relevant scheme and presented a detailed overview of their progress through a PowerPoint presentation.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of expanding the product and service offerings of FPOs to increase their business volume and enhance risk mitigation strategies. She also highlighted the need for Cluster-Based Business Organizations (CBBOs) to provide effective handholding support to FPOs, enabling them to develop into robust business entities.
The Deputy Commissioner urged all stakeholders to take proactive measures to raise awareness among farmers about the benefits of joining FPOs, thereby enhancing membership and ensuring sustainability.
