POONCH, AUGUST 22: District Election Officer (DEO) Vikas Kundal (IAS)on Thursday chaired a training program for polling personnel at the New Auditorium, Government Degree College (GDC) Poonch.

This initiative is a key step towards preparations for the upcoming Assembly Elections.

The training session witnessed the participation of education department employees from different zones, including Poonch, Kanuyian, Mandi, Sathra, and Nangali- all designated for election duty. The comprehensive program provided essential guidance to the staff on election protocols and best practices.

A significant portion of the training was dedicated to hands-on training in operating Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) systems and Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Participants engaged in detailed demonstrations and practical exercises to gain proficiency in handling these machines .

In his address, Vikas Kundal emphasized the importance of adhering to the Election Commission of India’s guidelines. “Our goal is to conduct the 2024 Assembly Elections with the utmost integrity and transparency,” he asserted and added “It is imperative that every polling personnel understand and follow the established guidelines to uphold the credibility of our democratic process.”

The training was expertly conducted by District and Assembly Level Master Trainers, who provided in-depth knowledge about various polling duties.

Similar training programs were held in Mendhar and Surankote Tehsils.
