SRINAGAR, AUGUST 10: In accordance with the J&K Legal Service Authority calendar for the year 2024, the District Legal Services Authorities of all the districts of Kashmir today organized a special Lok Adalat for the amicable settlement of criminal compoundable cases.
The Lok Adalat was held under the directions of Justice Tashi Rabstan, Chief Justice (A) of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh and Patron-in-Chief, cum Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority, and under the supervision of Amit Kumar Gupta, Member Secretary, J&K Legal Services Authority.
Lok Adalat for criminal compoundable cases serves as a transformative mechanism for resolving disputes and promoting social harmony. By providing a platform for parties to settle their differences amicably, Lok Adalats contribute to a more just, peaceful, and equitable society.
Lok Adalats continue to be an integral part of the justice delivery system, by virtue of their commitment to resolve disputes promptly and affordably and also alleviating the burden on the formal court system.
Meanwhile at Srinagar, the Lok Adalat was held at the District Court Complex Mominabad Srinagar, under the supervision of Jawad Ahmed, Chairman of the DLSA (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Srinagar.
On the occasion, 03 benches were constituted for the amicable settlement of criminal compoundable cases. Overall 11 cases were taken up for settlement out of which 6 cases were amicably settled & Rs. 2,86,00000 was awarded as settlement amount in Criminal Compoundable Cases.
At Anantnag, a Lok Adalat for Criminal Compoundable Cases was held today at District Court Complex Anantnag under the supervision of Jaffar Hussain Beigh, Chairman, DLSA (Principal District & Sessions Judge), Anantnag and under the guidance of Tabassum Qadir Parray, Secretary DLSA, Anantnag.
For amicable settlement of the cases, 06 benches were constituted.
In the said Lok Adalat, a total of 122 cases were taken up in which 51 cases were settled amicably and an amount of Rs. 27,41,500 was realized.
At Budgam, a Lok Adalat for the amicable settlement of criminal compoundable cases was today held at the District Court Complex Budgam, under the supervision of Khalil Ahmad Chowdhary (Pr. Distt.& Sessions Judge) Chairman DLSA Budgam.
04 Benches constituted by DLSA Budgam took up a total of 46 cases for their amicable settlement, out of which 12 matters were settled. Besides, an amount of Rs.23,62,450 was realized in total in the settlement.
At Ganderbal, a special Lok Adalat was held under the supervision of Ritesh Kumar Dubey, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Ganderbal and under the guidance of Nusrat Ali Hakak, Secretary DLSA Ganderbal.
Two benches were constituted for amicable settlement of the cases. A total of 23 criminal compoundable cases were taken up, out of which 01 cases were successfully settled.
At Shopian, a Special Lok Adalat on Criminal Compoundable Cases was held at ADR Centre District Court Complex Shopian under the supervision of Riaz- UI-Haq Mirza, Chairman DLSA (Principal District & Sessions Judge) Shopian.
A Special bench for Criminal Compoundable Cases was constituted that took up a total number of 40 cases for their amicable settlement. Out of which 22 Cases were settled, with a settled amount of Rs 2,93,000.
At Bandipora, the Lok Adalat was held under the Supervision of Amit Sharma, Chairman DLSA, (Pr. District & Session Judge) Bandipora and under the guidance of Nusrat Ali Hakak, Secretary DLSA, Bandipora.
Two Benches were constituted for the said Lok Adalat. A total of 25 cases were taken up for amicable settlement, out of which 15 cases were settled and an amount of Rs. 37,500 was realized.
At Kupwara, the Lok Adalat was held under the supervision of Chairperson, DLSA, (Pr. District & Session Judge) Kupwara, Shazia Tabasum, and guidance of Secretary, DLSA Kupwara, Manzoor Ahmad Khan.
04 Benches were constituted for the said Lok Adalat that took up a total number of 28 cases for amicable settlement, of which 08 cases were disposed as settled on spot by intervention of the benches and by participation of the lawyers and litigants.
