KULGAM, AUGUST 06: Commissioner Secretary, Hospitality and Protocol, Dr. Rashmi Singh, who is also Electoral Roll Observer for Kulgam district, today reviewed the progress of ongoing 2nd Special Summary Revision (SSR) in the district.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Viqar Ahmad Giri briefed the Commissioner Secretary about the latest achievement during 2nd SSR in the district through a Power Point Presentation. It was informed that 8 new polling stations have been created in the district as per the ECI norms making a total of 372 polling stations across the district for 325680 eligible voters.
It was also informed that the district has three Assembly Constituencies, 38- DH Pora, 39-Kulgam and 40-Devsar. It was further given out that Gender Ratio of Electors in the district is 993 and EP Ratio is more than 64% as on date and all efforts are made to further improve the health parameters of the Electoral Roll during the ongoing Summary Revision.
The Commissioner Secretary was also apprised that till date 2500 new voters have been added in the district during ongoing SSR. Further, it was given out that the district has disposed off 1581 claims and objections pertaining to addition, deletion and transposition.
During the review meeting, the Commissioner Secretary assessed the progress made, so far, and emphasized the need for meticulous and timely completion of the revision process. She stressed on the importance of maintaining accuracy and inclusivity in the electoral roll.
She also applauded the efforts of district administration for maintaining highest standards in ensuring accurate, inclusive and error free Photo Electoral Roll, which is prerequisite of a healthy democracy. She also directed the concerned officers for timely disposal of all the claims and objections.
The Commissioner Secretary also interacted with district officials, EROs and AEROs to understand the revision process and offered guidance to address the grievances with due diligence and promptness for healthy and robust Photo Electoral Roll.
During her visit, Dr. Rashmi Singh also interacted with representatives of various Political Parties.
The meeting, among others, was attended by Deputy District Election Officer, Kulgam Bilal Ahmad Kamgar, SDM Noorabad (ERO-DH Pora), ACR Kulgam (ERO-Kulgam) and other concerned officers.
