Srinagar, August 4th – The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) continues its active engagement in the Swachhata Pakhwada Campaign with a series of intensive cleanliness drives targeting Dal Lake, Doodh Ganga, and other local water bodies. These initiatives are designed to enhance the ecological health and cleanliness of Srinagar’s water resources.

During these drives, SMC officials and dedicated volunteers have worked diligently to clear garbage and debris from the areas surrounding Dal Lake and Doodh Ganga. This effort not only aims to preserve the delicate ecosystems but also to educate the community on the importance of preventing water pollution.

To further support these efforts, SMC has installed strategic garbage traps around the water bodies to intercept and reduce waste before it enters the lakes and rivers. This preventive measure is crucial for maintaining water quality and protecting aquatic life.

Dr. Owais Ahmed IAS, Commissioner SMC, emphasized the significance of collective responsibility in preserving natural resources and praised the efforts of officials, volunteers, and community members. He called for continued community support to achieve a cleaner, healthier environment.

SMC remains dedicated to fostering environmental sustainability and encourages all residents to play an active role in safeguarding the purity of Srinagar’s water bodies.
