Swachhata Pakhwada: JKEDI holds pledge ceremonies, plantation drives

SEMPORA, AUGUST 02: In view of the Swachhata Pakhwada, pledges followed by plantation drives were held at Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) and its district centres.

The initiative marked a significant step in JKEDI’s commitment to cleanliness and environmental sustainability along with engaging the community for a better J&K.

The Swachhata pledge was taken by Rajinder Kumar Sharma , Director JKEDI along with the employees of the institute at its Sempora campus.

The employees pledged to dedicate 100 hours in a year towards promoting cleanliness and planting trees for a greener tomorrow.

The pledge taking ceremony was followed by a plantation drive where the Director JKEDI along with the employees planted saplings all over the campus.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajinder Kumar Sharma, Director JKEDI emphasized on the role of such events in making a positive impact on our environment. He stressed that such plantation drives were a testament of JKEDI towards promoting a greener J&K.
He emphasized on the employees to take initiative in keeping their surrounding clean and promote plantation.

The fortnight-long Swachhata Pakhwada-2024 commenced from August 01 and aims to reinforce the principles of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan while involving local communities in the environmental conservation and instilling a sense of responsibility.

The pledge and the plantation drive at JKEDI were a part of this initiative of the Government of J&K with a commitment to promote cleanliness and create environmental awareness across the UT.

Since yesterday the staff of the institute in its district centres has been actively participating in similar events in their respective districts to make their contribution towards the 15-day long Swachhata campaign.
