SRINAGAR, JULY 27: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar on Saturday organized an awareness program on Domestic Violence Act and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
The programme was held under the guidance of Jawad Ahmed, Chairman District Legal Services Authority Srinagar (PDJ, Srinagar).
Tasneem Kausar, Deputy Legal Aid Defense Counsel, DLSA Srinagar provided insightful information about Domestic Violence Act. She shed light on the various forms of domestic violence, legal recourse available to victims, and the importance of seeking support and protection.
Sehar Nazir, Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel, DLSA Srinagar emphasized the significance of the POCSO Act 2012 in safeguarding children from sexual abuse. She discussed the various provisions of the Act, including the definition of sexual offences, reporting procedures, and the rights of the child victim.
This awareness program is a vital step towards creating a safer and more informed community, by empowering our youth with knowledge of their rights and the legal framework available to protect them.
