Bandipora, July 19: The Muharram procession in Sumbal today witnessed the participation of Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Shakeel ul Rehman, SDM Sumbal Aamir Choudhary, Tehsildar Sumbal, and other officers from district and sub-divisional administration.
The processions, which commemorated the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, brought together mourners from various villages of Sumbal.
The Deputy Commissioner, along with SDM Sumbal, joined the mourners in their march and distributed refreshments and drinking water among them.
People from all schools of thought joined the processions, offering refreshments and water to the mourners, highlighting communal & sectarian harmony and brotherhood.
Pertinent to mention that the district administration ensured all necessary arrangements, enhancing the spirit of unity and peace, and ensuring the smooth conduct of the processions.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration worked closely with local communities to maintain peace and order and to ensure all the necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of Muharram observance.
The efforts of the administration were widely praised by the locals, who appreciated the measures taken to facilitate the processions and ensure the comfort and safety of all participants.
