Karnah// Echoing the patterns of the previous year, the onset of forest fires has recommenced, marking yet another season of destruction. Experts assert that rampant deforestation coupled with recurrent forest fires has inflicted severe environmental damage. Forests, often referred to as the lungs of our planet, are crucial for oxygen production and serve as vital habitats for wildlife. Their destruction is causing a significant imbalance in the ecological equilibrium, repercussions of which we are currently experiencing.

There is an imperative need for heightened awareness among both the public and administrative bodies. Addressing this critical issue demands a comprehensive and large-scale awareness campaign. It is essential for the public and the administration to grasp the severity of the situation and to shoulder their respective responsibilities. Elevating awareness to prevent forest fires is an urgent necessity. To this end, it is crucial to provide local communities and firefighters with rigorous training in fire prevention and response strategies.

Utmost caution must be exercised during camping or picnicking in proximity to forests, ensuring that all fires are fully extinguished before departure. Designated areas should be utilized for waste disposal in forested regions to mitigate fire risks. Moreover, stringent laws need to be enacted and enforced to curb deforestation. Educational campaigns should be systematically conducted in schools, colleges, and community centers to foster public awareness.

In Karnah, various social organizations have underscored the gravity of forest fires and urged the populace to exercise caution. Haji Tasleem, President of the Karnah Beopar Mandal, emphasized in an interview that the responsibility for forest protection rests with every individual. He called upon the Karnah administration to thoroughly investigate the underlying causes of the forest fires and to initiate robust awareness campaigns aimed at educating the public.
