Mega Distribution Camp of Prosthetic aids held at Kulgam

KULGAM, JULY 16: The Social Welfare Department Kulgam in collaboration with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) organized a two days Mega distribution camp of Prosthetic Aids from 15 to 16 July 2024.

The distribution of these prosthetic aids was held under the scheme of Assistance to Persons with Disabilities for Purchase/ Fitting of Aids/ Appliances (ADIP Scheme) scheme in which 178 already assessed beneficiaries were provided “fit to size” prosthetic aids worth Rs 15 lakh.

Wheel chairs, CP chairs, Hearing aids, Smart canes, Rollators, Tricycles, Braille kits, Callipers, Smart Tablets, ADL kits etc were handed over to the beneficiaries during the camp by the Technical team from ALIMCO.

The main objective of the scheme is to assist the needy disabled persons by providing durable, sophisticated and scientifically manufactured, modern standard aids and appliances to promote physical social, psychological rehabilitation of persons with disabilities by reducing the effects of disabilities and at the same time enhance their economic potential.

The gathering provided an opportunity to enlighten the participants regarding the initiatives for the advancement of the persons with disabilities community, in addition to the accessible amenities for the upkeep of prosthetic aids.
