SRINAGAR, JULY 2: Principal Secretary, Agriculture Production Department (APD), Shailendra Kumar, today chaired a meeting of concerned officers to review functioning of Enforcement Wing of Agriculture department.
While addressing the meeting, the Principal Secretary said that the department is committed to safeguard the interests of farming community of the region. He exhorted upon the concerned officers to work in close coordination with officers of the extension wing to achieve effective results in overall working of the department.
Shailendra highlighted the importance of transparency and accountability in the system to ensure smooth distribution of quality pesticides, fertilizers and other inputs among the growers and farmers. He said that the primary objective of law enforcement wing of the department is to ensure availability of quality inputs to farming community of the region, through proper sale outlets.
The Principal Secretary said that 133 fertiliser samples have been drawn, as on date, for 2024-25 while 835 samples had been drawn for 2023-24. He asked the concerned officers to ensure that all the provisions of insecticides Act, fertilizer control order are implemented in letter and spirit.
Among others the meeting was attended by Director Agriculture Kashmir, Director Law Enforcement, Deputy Director Law Enforcement, Plant Protection Officer Kashmir, District Law Enforcement officers and other concerned officers of the department.
