Sopore, 30th June 2024:
Sopore police today at about 19:40 hours, alongwith 22 RR and 179 Bn CRPF established a joint naka at Machipora, Bomai. During naka checking, one white coloured Maruti swift bearing registration No. JK01AK-4452 coming from Bomai towards Machipora was intercepted and was signaled to stop but the driver of the vehicle tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully by the alert naka party.
During the questioning he disclosed his identity as Waheed ul Zahoor S/O Zahoor ul Rahim R/O Hadipora, Rafiabad A/P Mustafabad HMT Srinagar. During the search, following arms/ammunition and other Incriminating material were recovered from the vehicle.
(a) Turkish Pistols = 02 No.’s
(b) Turkish Pistol Magazine = 03 No.’s
(c) Pistol Rounds = 41 No.’s
(d) Chinese Grenade = 02 No.’s
(e) Turkish Pistol Silencer = 01 No.
(f) Incriminating IED materials.
To this effect case FIR No 37/2024 U/S 16, 18, 23 38 UAP(A) 3, 4, 5 Explosive substances Act , 7/25 Arms Act stands registered in Police Station Bomai and further investigation has been set into motion, more recoveries are to be expected.
