On the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse, a grand function was organized at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Mandi under the supervision of Smt. Anju Rishi, the Principal of the institution. The event was attended by all the students and staff members of the school, who gathered to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and to discuss ways to combat this societal issue.

Smt. Anju Rishi, in her address to the students, emphasized the importance of taking a stand against drug abuse and highlighted the role that each individual can play in creating a drug-free society. She encouraged the students to be proactive in spreading awareness about the harmful effects of drugs and to support those who may be struggling with addiction. She also shed light on the significance of observing the International Day Against Drug Abuse and stressed the need for collective efforts to eradicate this menace from our communities.

Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed, a Lecturer in English and the Incharge of Peace House at GHSS Mandi, also spoke at the event. He provided valuable insights into the multifaceted impacts of drug abuse, including its effects on health, society, economy, and psychology. By highlighting these aspects, he aimed to educate the audience about the far-reaching consequences of drug abuse and underscored the importance of prevention and intervention strategies.

As part of the program, a Speech Competition was organized for the students, allowing them to express their views on drug abuse and its repercussions. The participants delivered thought-provoking speeches that highlighted the need for increased awareness and action to address this pressing issue. The winners of the competition were recognized and awarded by the school authorities for their outstanding contributions.

The event concluded with a solemn Pledge taken by both students and staff members to combat the drug menace in their community. This symbolic gesture reinforced their commitment to standing united against drug abuse and working towards a healthier and safer environment for all. Before closing the program, a heartfelt Vote of Thanks was presented by Barket Choudhary, a Senior Lecturer at GHSS Mandi, expressing gratitude to all those who had contributed to the success of the event.

In summary, the program organized at GHSS Mandi on the International Day Against Drug Abuse served as a platform for raising awareness, promoting dialogue, and fostering a sense of responsibility among students and staff members. Through engaging activities, insightful speeches, and collective pledges, the event underscored the importance of unity and vigilance in combating drug abuse and protecting the well-being of individuals and communities.
