In a bid to shed light on the pressing issues plaguing the residents of Machil, Kupwara, a dedicated team from All India Radio’s Shahrebeen program embarked on a crucial visit to the region. Led by Producer and Senior Journalist, Maqsood Ahmed, the team, comprising seasoned journalists including Senior Journalist and Incharge of Sharbeen North Kashmir Zone, Fayaz Wani, Zameer Andarabi, Amerjeet Singh, and Ishfaq Sayeed, delved into the heart of the community to assess the challenges faced by its people.

During their stay, the team uncovered a series of crises gripping the region, painting a stark picture of neglect and deprivation. The dilapidated state of the roads, riddled with potholes, emerged as a significant concern, severely impacting the mobility and safety of the residents. Furthermore, the scarcity of rice in the local food supply stores has exacerbated livelihood woes, with many struggling to make ends meet in the face of economic hardship.

Education emerged as another critical area of concern, with the Higher Secondary School in Doodhi Machil grappling with a severe shortage of teaching staff and inadequate infrastructure. Despite accommodating over 250 students, the school faces a glaring deficit of 11 lecturers, 6 teachers, and a vacant position for a physical education instructor. The lack of proper accommodation for visiting lecturers from neighboring towns further compounds the problem, hindering the delivery of quality education to the students.

In response to these pressing issues, the residents of Machil have called upon the authorities to expedite solutions and alleviate their plight. Urgent action is needed to address the road conditions, ensure adequate food supplies, and bolster the education sector to provide students with the opportunities they deserve.

In a ray of hope amidst the challenges, a collaborative effort between the Indian Army and the Shahrebeen Team of All India Radio is set to bring some respite to the community. A musical fest, featuring the renowned poet Sagar Pandit, is on the horizon, promising a moment of joy and solidarity for the residents of Machil.

As the spotlight shines on Machil’s struggles, there is a renewed call for concerted efforts from all stakeholders to effect meaningful change and uplift the lives of its inhabitants.
