Awantipora, June 07: To give students an opportunity to gain a firsthand experience regarding business operations, department of economics under the University’s Industry Connect organised an Industry exposure visit .
The students interacted with Members of the Industrial Association and also visited various units to gain an overview of Industry Operations. Such experiential visits form part of the curriculum to initiate students into entrepreneurship and innovations. Prof A H Moon commended the department for taking such initiatives and said that under the directions of Vice Chancellor, Prof Shakil Ahmad Romshoo major decision making bodies at the IUST concerned with Curriculum framing, Quality assessment control etc. at IUST have Industry representation to bridge the gap between what is taught in the classrooms and what is needed by the Industry. He said that IUST’s Academic Council chaired by Prof Shakil Ahmad Romshoo has adopted the Start Up policy whereby the outstanding students can avail study gap to pursue entrepreneurship full time.
The visiting students were accompanied by HoD, Prof. M Shafi and other faculty members and the programme was coordinated by Dr Amir Hussain Dar, Coordinator Industry Connect, IUST.
