“These (Lok Sabha) elections were very crucial for us and given the fact that the process was carried out in three separate phases, it was quite imposing on us,” the top police officer said, adding, “It nonetheless is quite satisfied that J&K Police alongside other security forces saw satisfactory culmination of the whole process.”

Underscoring the importance of the counting day, Birdi said, “Now that the counting day follows tomorrow, it is an important day for the whole process not only in Kashmir but in every other place (across the country).”

“All the mandated security arrangements have been put in place with paramilitary forces, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police and other allied staff mobilized in enough numbers to ensure hassle-free culmination of counting of votes,” Birdi added. (KS)
