SHOPIAN, MAY 19: To ensure inclusive participation of eligible voters, Postal Ballot Voting under the Absent voters of Essential Services an Home voting for Senior Citizens and PwDs commenced today across Zainapora AC of the Anantnag-Rajouri PC.
17 Polling parties for home voting were dispatched early morning from Mini-Secretariat Shopian by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Shopian, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz.The parties visited various villages of the Zainapora AC and registered votes of Senior Citizens, aged 85 plus and Persons with Disabilities voters at 17 locations.
Besides,306 employees from different essential services departments, who opted for the postal ballot voting, availed the facility at Postal Voting Centre, Shopian and exercised their franchise during the day one and shall continue till May,21.
The Postal Ballot option is allowing employees to fulfill their government services on the Poll Day, without the constraints of physical presence at their actual Polling Stations.
In Zainapora Assembly Segment of Shopian district, part of Anantnag- Rajouri Lok Sabha seat, people availed voting rights through the Home Voting facility.
Polling teams travelled far off areas to reach PWDs and elderly persons of these areas for casting their votes in a free and fair manner.
