Kupwara, May 18: The scores of enthusiastic voters today thronged the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme organized at picturesque Keran area on Zero Line , conveying their eagerness to participate in Lok Sabha elections on May 20, by choosing their right representative through the power of their ballot.

The mega event, which was organized on the directions of District Election Officer(DEO) Kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan, featured multiple activities, including, sports activities, Tug of War and Cultural performances like folk dance and folk songs showcased the vibrant talent among the local youth and the students. A Tiranga rally was organized which marched through the Keran Market, along the Kishanganga river.

Mega voter awareness event at Sports Ground of Government Higher Secondary School Keran, on Zero line,which overlooks Neelam valley of POK, became a center of attraction not only for local residents of Keran (participants ), but this impressive event also attracted the attention of people of the other side of the LOC (POK) who also watched keenly the impactful performances by the students and youth from other side of the Kishanganga river (POK).

Chief Education Officer Kupwara, Abdul Majeed Dar, who is also District Nodal Officer SVEEP, appreciated the local residents of Keran for their commitment towards patriotism and strengthening democracy. He urged them to come out and vote in huge numbers on May 20 so that Kupwara district achieves highest voter turnover.

While addressing the participants, The CEO further said that SVEEP activities have inspired the young voters towards the electoral process and strengthened the democratic setup to empower citizens. Earlier a voter pledge was held in the event.
Programe was attended by Principal Higher secondary school Keran, Tehsildar Keran, SHO, first time voters, and local residents of the area.
