National Lok Adalat held across district Kupwara

KUPWARA, MAY 11: In accordance with the Action Plan/activities calendar 2024, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kupwara, under the aegis of JK Legal Services Authority & NALSA, organized 2nd National Lok Adalat of 2024, across District Kupwara today. The Lok Adalat was held under the supervision of Ms. Shazia Tabasum, Chairperson, District Legal Services Authority, (Pr. District & Session Judge) Kupwara, and guidance of Mr. Manzoor Ahmad Khan Secretary, DLSA Kupwara. Six (06) Benches were constituted for the said Lok Adalat comprising of Presiding Officers and Members for the amicable settlement/ compromise of the cases.
Cases of different categories were taken up in the said National Lok Adalat, i.e., Criminal Compoundable offences, Bank Recovery Cases, Money Suit, NI Act U/s 138, MACT and other Civil Cases at Pre & Post Litigation stages etc.
Bench first constituted at Court Complex, Kupwara was presided over by Mr. Khem Raj Sharma, Additional Distt. & Session Judge (PO Fast Track) Kupwara and Mr. Altaf Ahmad Mir, Munsiff/ JMIC Kupwara acted as Member. Second Bench constituted at Court Complex, Handwara was presided over by Ms. Umi Qulsoom, Additional District & Sessions Judge, Handwara, and Mr. Gh. Nabi Khan, Bar President, Handwara acted as Member. Bench Third constituted at Court Complex Handwara was Presided over by Mr. Vishaish Kumar Parihar, Chairman TLSC (CJM) Handwara and Mr. Iqbal Rafiq Wakil, Munsiff/ JMIC, Handwara acted as Member. Fourth Bench constituted at ADR Centre DLSA Kupwara was presided over by Mr. Manzoor Ahmad Khan, Secretary DLSA (Sub-Judge), Kupwara and Mr. Bilal Ahmad Malik, Bar President District Court, Kupwara acted as Member. Bench Fifth constituted at Munsiff/ JMIC Court Tangdhar was presided over by Mr. Faizan-i-Nazar Munsiff/ JMIC Tangdhar and Mr. Mehboob Alahi Bar president Tangdhar acted a Member & Bench Sixth constituted at Munsiff/ JMIC Court Sogam was presided over by Mr. Shabir Ahmad Munsiff/JMIC (Chairman) Sogam and Mr. Bashir Ahmad Bhat Bar president Sogam acted as Member.
A total number of 746 cases taken up by all the benches, of which 617 number of cases were disposed as settled on spot by intervention of the benches and by participation of the lawyers and litigants.
A total sum of Rs. 21,26,500/- was awarded to the aggrieved parties by settlement during the said National Lok Adalat.
Lawyers and litigants participating in the Special Lok Adalat expressed their joy in early disposal of the cases through mutual settlement and appreciated the arrangements of the Special Lok Adalat.
