Kupwara, May 1: In one of the unique sports initiative to encourage voter awareness and electoral participation, DEO Kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan today inaugurated a 3- day Archery training camp at Indoor Sports Stadium Handwara which was organized by district administration Kupwara as part of the ongoing Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative.

 

Archery training camp brought together first-time voters, Students, Officers of district administration, teachers, members of Archery association, besides the general public.

 

The purpose of organizing the 3-Day training camp under the SVEEP initiative was to raise awareness about the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and the importance of voting by combining the spirit of sports with a message of civic responsibility and to develop a culture of active participation in the electoral process.

 

While interacting with participants the District Election Officer (DEO) highlighted the importance of empowering all citizens, especially first-time voters with the knowledge and confidence they need to actively participate in the democratic process.

 

Ayushi Sudan emphasized the importance of every citizen’s voice in shaping the future of our democracy.

 

While addressing the first time voters, DEO said that students above 18 are our brand ambassadors for upcoming Lok Sabha elections. On May 20th, the occasion of poll day for Baramulla Parliamentary constituency, students above 18 will vote and motivate their relatives and friends to vote enthusiastically.

 

“You are going to spread the message of exercising the right to vote so that a responsible government is elected through responsible and informed voting” DEO said.

 

The participants expressed gratitude to the DEO Kupwara, ADC Handwara, SVEEP team Kupwara and Sports Department for engaging them and promoting democratic values and providing them opportunity to raise voter awareness by means of sports.

 

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Handwara, Aziz Ahmad Rather, District Nodal Officer SVEEP/ CEO Kupwara, Ab Majeed Dar, CMO Kupwara, Dr. Ramzan, Tehsildar Handwara, Zeehsan Ahmad Khan, District Youth service & sports Officer, Zahoor Ahmad, ZEO Handwara, Cluster Heads, District Cultural Coordinator, Teachers and students from different schools, besides, officials from various departments, first time voters, community leaders, besides general public also participated in the mega sports event.
