Kishtwar, April 20: District Police Kishtwar have achieved a significant breakthrough in the investigation of a burglary case of a Hardware Store in Kishtwar town. Stolen property amounting to Rs. 6.00 lakhs has been successfully recovered.

SSP Kishtwar, Shri Abdul Qayoom-JKPS, while divulging the details said that on 16-04-2024, a written complaint was lodged by one Vikar Ahmed S/O Mohd Irfan R/O Shahidi Mohalla Kishtwar regarding theft in his Hardware Store situated near ITI Kishtwar on 12/13-04-2024 and 15/16-04-2024 by some unknown burglars. In this regard, an instant FIR 103/2024 u/s 457/380 IPC of P/S Kishtwar was registered, and the investigation was set into motion.

 

SSP Kishtwar constituted a special team led by SHO PS Kishtwar Inspr Firdous Ahmed, assisted by PSI Anil Sharma under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Dr. Ishan Gupta JKPS. During the investigation, the team ascertained the CCTV footage and interrogated the suspicious persons. After hectic efforts made by the special team, leads were prevailed, and the main accused, namely Rahul Singh S/O Gopal Singh R/O Near TRC Kishtwar, was arrested.

 

During his questioning, he disclosed that he had sold all the stolen property to the following accused persons, namely:

 

1. Naseer Elahi S/O Chandi Sheikh R/O Cherhar

2. Mohd Hussain S/O Mohd Akbar R/O Malipeth Kishtwar

3. Javed Iqbal Sheikh S/O Ghulam Haider Sheikh R/O Malipeth Kishtwar

4. Sheikh Aqib Ishtiaq S/O Sheikh Ishtiaq Ahmed R/O Hudri Kishtwar.

 

Upon revealing the names, they were called at PS where they disclosed that they had purchased the stolen items from the accused and kept them at their shops/residences. On their disclosure, a police party along with magistrate visited at the spot where stolen property is stored and recovered all the stolen items like, electric motors, water tanks geysers, motorized cutters, sinks, pipe rolls, Paint, showers etc.

 

SSP Kishtwar has issued a stern warning to all potential burglars and emphasizing the extensive CCTV coverage and round the clock monitoring by specialized teams. The successful apprehension of this gang of thieves underscores the effectiveness of the CCTV surveillance unit of Kishtwar Police.
