MET predicts erratic weather till 23rd Apr in J&K

Srinagar, 13 Apr: Meteorological department Srinagar on saturday issued fresh weather update for jammu and Kashmir, predicting erratic weather in J&K till 23rd April.

Director of the Meteorological Department, Mukhtar Ahmad, has issued a comprehensive weather update for Jammu and Kashmir spanning from April 13th to 23rd. The forecast outlines various weather patterns expected to impact the region.

On April 13th and 14th, the region is expected to experience generally cloudy conditions with light to moderate rain and snow in higher elevations. There is a possibility of heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorms, and gusty winds in isolated areas during this period.

From April 15th to 16th, the weather will remain partly to generally cloudy with light rain and snow in higher reaches, particularly in the evenings and mornings.

Subsequently, on April 17th and 18th, the forecast predicts generally dry weather with the possibility of late afternoon and nighttime thundershowers in a few places.

Moving into April 19th and 20th, the weather is expected to be partly cloudy with light rain and snow in many areas during the evenings and mornings.

From April 21st to 23rd, generally dry weather is forecasted with the possibility of afternoon and nighttime thundershowers.

The advisory issued alongside the weather forecast includes precautions for farmers, travelers, and tourists. Farmers are advised to suspend operations until April 16th, while travelers and tourists are urged to plan accordingly due to potential disruptions in surface transportation and temporary waterlogging in low-lying areas. Additionally, there is a risk of landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones during this period.

Residents of Jammu and Kashmir are encouraged to stay informed about the weather updates and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and well-being during this period of variable weather conditions.

โ—15-16th April:Partly to Generally cloudy with Light Rain/Snow (higher reaches) at many places during 15th evening to 16th morning.
โ—17-18th April: Generally dry weather with late A/N thundershower activity at few places.
โ—19-20thApril:Partly cloudy with Light Rain/Snow at many places during 19th evening to 20th morning.
โ—21-23rd April: Generally dry weather with A/N thundershower activity canโ€™t be ruled out.

โ—Farmers are advised to suspend farm operations till 16th April.
โ—Temporary Disruption of surface transportation over few higher reaches during 13-14th April.
โ—Travellers & Tourists are advised to plan accordingly.
โ—Temporary water logging in few Low lying areas.
โ—Possibility of Landslides/Mudslides and shooting stones.
