Kupwara, April 4, The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan (IAS) Thursday, chaired a meeting of Officers at Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex, here to review the arrangements for the celebration of upcoming religious festivals of different communities including Muslims, Sikhs and Hindus in the district.

 

The Deputy Commissioner reviewed comprehensive arrangements to be put in place for the observance of Shab-e-Qadr, Friday following and celebration of Eid ul Fitr, Baisakhi and Navratra in the district.

 

Addressing the meeting, DC emphasized upon all the officers to ensure availability of all requisite services and facilities to the people including electricity, drinking water, sanitation, cleanliness and other essentials. The Deputy Commissioner directed all the line departments to make elaborate measures for the smooth celebrations of the festivals and ensure all basic arrangements are put in place for the devotees well in advance.

 

On the occasion, the DC passed directions to the PDD and PHE Departments to ensure uninterrupted supplies of power and water to the Masjids, Temples and Gurudwaras particularly in wake of the upcoming religious festivals like Friday Following, Shab e-Qadr, Eid , Navratri and Baisakhi in the district.

 

DC enjoined upon the PDD authorities that there should be no power cuts during Sehri and Iftar.

 

She instructed PDD officers to make the defunct transformers functional within 24 hours positively, if any transformer gets defunct these days.

 

The Deputy Commissioner directed Tehsildars to intensify the market checking and instructed the concerned departments that, every other day, undertake the intensive market checking in all important markets so that illegal profiteering is controlled and no hoarding is done.

 

Similarly, EO MC Kupwara was directed to activate the Municipal staff and ensure sanitation, cleaning measures and Choona marking outside the Masjids, Eidgahs, and other religious places.

 

DC instructed EO, MC to cover the open main hole at Hospital road and make fully functional the toilet blocks at Rigipora.

 

She also asked Health authorities to ensure a medical team headed by a medical Officer with ambulance services remains available on call.

 

DC also held an interaction with traders and and members of the Auqaf committees and listened to their issues.

 

ACD Kupwara was directed to pass directions to Secretary Panchayats to ensure sanitation and cleanliness near Masjids, Eidgahs, temples and Gurudwaras located in rural areas of the district.

 

Meeting was attended by , Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Muhammad Rouf Rehman, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Handwara, Aziz Ahmad Rather, PO ICDS, FM DIC, Additional SP Kupwara, G.M Bhat, EXen PHE, EXen PDD, CMO, AMO, Tehsildars, DY. SP Traffic, EO MC and other concerned Officers.
