March 28:“Continuing its drive against social crimes, police have arrested 05 gamblers in Sopore and seized stake money from their possession.

 

Acting on a specific information regarding gambling activities at Ambarpora Tarzoo Nambal, a police party headed by SHO PS Tarzoo under the supervision of SDPO Sopore raided the specific spot. During the raid 05 gamblers identified as Firdous Ahmad Dar son of Bashir Ahmad & Shabir Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar both residents of Shair A Colony Sopore, Shafat Ahmad Hajam son of Mohammad Shafi Hajam resident of Ningli Sopore, Ishaq Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Nabi Dar resident of Ningli Sopore and Aashiq Hussain Malla son of Abdul Majeed Malla resident of Haritar Sopore were arrested.

 

Officers have also seized stake money of ₹19000/- and playing cards from the gamblers. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 22/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Tarzoo and further investigation has been taken up.

 

People found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.“`
