Karnah Kupwara: In a bid to foster civic engagement and educate the youth about the importance of participating in the democratic process, an Election Awareness Programme under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative was recently organized at Higher Secondary School Teetwal. Spearheaded by Principal Ab Rashid Bhat and coordinated by Yasir Sadeeq, the event witnessed active participation from students, including Nadeem Aijaz and Amina Yonis from Class 11th, and Afreen Nisa.
The programme aimed to instill a sense of responsibility and awareness among the students regarding their role in shaping the future of the nation through active participation in elections. Through interactive sessions, discussions, and audio-visual presentations, students were enlightened about the electoral process, the significance of voting, and the impact of their participation on the democratic fabric of the country.
Principal Ab Rashid Bhat emphasized the pivotal role of educational institutions in nurturing informed and responsible citizens. “As the torchbearers of tomorrow, it is imperative for students to understand the essence of democracy and actively engage in the electoral process,” remarked Principal Bhat. “Events like these not only empower our youth but also contribute to building a vibrant and inclusive democracy.”
Yasir Sadeeq, the coordinator of the programme, reiterated the importance of youth participation in shaping the nation’s destiny. “The future of our democracy rests in the hands of the youth, and it is crucial to equip them with the knowledge and awareness necessary to make informed choices,” stated Ahmad. “Through initiatives like SVEEP, we aim to inspire a generation of proactive and conscientious citizens.”
Students, including Nadeem Aijaz, Amina Yonis, and Afreen Nisa, expressed their enthusiasm and gratitude for the enlightening experience. “Participating in the SVEEP programme has opened our eyes to the power of our vote and the impact it can have on the direction of our country,” shared Nadeem Aijaz. “We now feel more empowered and responsible as citizens of India,” added Amina Yonis.
As the event concluded on a high note, it underscored the importance of continuous efforts in fostering electoral literacy and promoting active citizenship among the youth, paving the way for a stronger and more vibrant democracy.
